Seattle housing map

This map follows new housing applications and construction across Seattle from 2016 to the present. It brings together public permit records, project documents, parcel information, assessor records, and completion evidence so each address can be reviewed in one place.

Sources

SDCI building permits, land-use records, public pre-applications, EDMS documents, the design-review calendar, Seattle and King County GIS, the King County Assessor, and 2020 Census tracts.

Addresses can have multiple records, with the most relevant record at the top.

Records are primarily found in three places: Permit Applications from the Seattle Services Portal, design review records from the Seattle Design Review Calendar, and construction and building permits from SDCI open data. EDMS documents and other public sources are used for corroboration.

Project lifecycle information, including applied, completed, issued, and other permit milestones, comes from SDCI building and land-use permit records, public Permit Application records, and official quarterly permit data. Completion status comes from SDCI building-permit closeouts, the City's Certificates of Occupancy dataset, and reviewed completion evidence.

Permit Application inclusion and unit counts, completion evidence, ambiguous site relationships, and document selection are reviewed record by record. When a value cannot be supported, it stays unknown.
